Overview
Join us in providing nourishment and hope through the "Sandwich Service for the Residents & the Community". This opportunity not only serves residents of the shelter but also extends into the wider community, ensuring individuals experiencing hunger receive a meal with dignity and care. Volunteers will help prepare, assemble, and distribute sandwiches in a welcoming environment that reflects the mission of The Salvation Army.
This opportunity is available every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11:00am–1:00pm with a maximum of four volunteers per shift.
Primary Responsibilities

Food Preparation & Assembly

Assist with making sandwiches in a safe, clean, and organized manner.

Portion, package, and label sandwiches as directed.

Meal Service

Serve sandwiches and accompanying items directly to residents and community members.

Ensure each person is greeted warmly and treated with respect.

Food Safety & Cleanliness

Follow all health and safety guidelines during preparation and service.

Sanitize work areas, utensils, and surfaces before and after use.

Community Care

Engage with clients in a compassionate, non-judgmental way.

Promote dignity and inclusion through positive interaction.

Cleanup & Reset

Dispose of trash and food waste appropriately.

Leave the prep and serving areas clean.

Attire & Requirements
- Closed-toe shoes (non-slip recommended)
- Modest, comfortable clothing suitable for kitchen/dining service
- Hair tied back; (hairnets will be provided)
- Hands washed and covered (gloves will be provided)
- Positive, respectful, and compassionate attitude
